Why do I need to have a SIM card with an electronic ID to open an account?

To identify customers and confirm their identities (to confirm that you are who you say you are), we utilise electronic credentials from Auðkenni. This is an aspect of our security policy that we prioritise greatly.

Currently, we can only accept such information through e-IDs on your SIM card. However, we are working towards supporting the Auðkenni app, which indóans can use to verify their identity, considering the increasing trend of new phones having eSIM.
